Parquet Flooring
Some homeowners say that parquet flooring is the most beautiful kind of flooring you can have in your home. All types of this flooring have
the same abrasive standards, they are resistant to stains, and have a waterproof coating. You can choose one of two kinds of parquet - flooring
withy 3 layers or solid wood. However, you also have a choice in the type of wood parquet because there are several different styles.
Parquet floors are patented floors made from small strips of wood that form a distinctive pattern. The three styles of wood parquet floors are
traditional, Fontainebleau and herringbone. You use the same type of wood and the difference comes in the way you lay the strips of wood. In the
traditional design, they are laid in a series of vertical and horizontal strips that form squares. In the herringbone design, the strips are laid
diagonally. Most homeowners choose a blend of darker and lighter woods so that the darker woods along the walls provide the perfect contrast.
If you decide to install the parquet flooring yourself, here is a list of the tools you will need:
* Knee pads
* Chalk line
* Framing square
* Glue
* Face mask
* Notched trowel rubber mallet
* Saw
If you have ever installed vinyl tiles, then you shouldn't have any problem with the parquet tiles. You do have to make sure they are all
straight, which is why you need a chalk line. You do need to plan the pattern before you start installing so you know exactly how you want the
floor to look. When you are ready, apply the adhesive to the back of the tile and lay it in place. Use the rubber mallet to pound the tile
in place next to the previously laid one if you have to. You may have to cut some of the tiles to fit them around the walls and corners, which is
why you need a saw.
